Houseboat summary

We love to welcome you aboard our newly renovated boutique houseboat cabin. When designing this apartment in the front of our houseboat, we kept in mind that where you sleep, should be a part of the Amsterdam experience. The result is a spacious yet cosy, private and comfortable place you may call your home for a few days. Our ship is docked directly on the local swimming pond in the wonderful Eastern Docks, famous for its wide views, modern architecture and great swimming in summer. The city is just a few minutes away thanks to good public transport connections. We warmly welcome families with up to two kids.

Houseboat description

Now let us tell you something about the boutique cabin. You have access to a bright 3-room apartment, measuring 35 sqm. The place has high ceilings and includes a living room with kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom.

We offer high speed wi-fi, and in the living room there is a Chrome cast 42 digital TV and sound system for streaming your Netflix and Spotify. Thanks to the floor heating and good ventilation you are assured to enjoy a comfortable climate all year round. Furthermore there is a sofa bed for two kids to sleep.

In the kitchenette you will find a micro wave, tea kettle, a Nespresso machine and refrigerator with freezer for preparing light meals (note: no cooking). The bathroom is nicely finished with modern fittings, thermostatic taps, shower with unlimited hot water, hairdryer, towels and hand soap. In the bedroom we offer a comfortable double bed, a cupboard and suitcase rack.

Our ship is moored on KNSM island that is part of the Eastern Docklands of Amsterdam. Merchants and world travellers used to depart from here to the East Indies, the United States and Surinam. Today KNSM island is known for its modern architecture, interior design shops and waterside cafes. Take your breakfast with commuters in Bakkerswinkel Neeltje, drink a beer with locals in Cafe De Zuid or dine with Dutch celebrities at the Harbour Club.

How to get there

Getting here by plane/train: we recommend taking the train into Amsterdam Central Station. Walk to the busdeck north of the station and take bus 48 toward Borneo Eiland at platform C. Get off at Azartplein (5th stop) and walk 5m (400m) eastward along the Levantkade.

Getting here by by car: we recommend to first drop your bags and then to park cheap at Park and Ride Zeeburg. Of course we will share more elaborate details once you have made the booking.

I Had a fantastic stay, beautifully presented accommodation by owners who clearly care about their floating home and their guests comfort. The fact that you can climb out of bed in the morning and jump straight into the swimming pond.... no better way to start the day.

Quiet yet central location, with local amenities and good transport links. We will be staying here again on our next time in Amsterdam C&S

Great stay - everything was perfect!

We - my wife and i - stayed for two nights at the houseboat. It was a great time. The apartment is not very big, but very nice and cozy, we enjoyed the whole time at this lovely place. The boat is located close to the city center (two stops with the tram). You can found nice restaurants and shops in the neighborhood!

Thanks to Marieke and Sander for the warm welcome and your great recommendations. Everything was perfect!
    Best regards
    Markus & Maike

Fantastic and Unique stay at Sanders & Marieke's Boathouse.

Me and my boyfriend Mattias had an absolutely fantastic stay in this boathouse. It was a very unique experience of a lifetime spending time in the boat..enjoying fresh morning breeze on the boathouse and admiring stars on the deck at night The hosts Sanders and Marieke were both very warm, accommodating and attentive to our needs and so is their housekeeper Laura.. all of them gave lots of useful suggestions on things to do in Amsterdam and the nearby neighbourhood I was very pleasantly surprised that the host went to extend of flying the Singapore flag on the houseboat!! And last but not least..I was blessed to witness both sunrise and see moon at same time on the last morning of my stay!! Highly recommended hosts, you wont regret the stay.

    Lovely stay...

From 13 to 16 August we were guests on Sander & Marieke's Houseboat. We enjoyed the hospitality, atmosphere, the swimming and the sub. And of course Amsterdam too. We had a lovely time and would like to come back again... Sincerely, Dunja & Erik

    The stay was fantastic

The owners are really kind and helpful people. They gave us all kind of tips for shops, e.g. bike rental, and lists with the best restaurants and activities to do in Amsterdam.

Our own (steep) entrance gave us all the privacy we needed and allowed us to enter and leave the boat whenever we wanted.

The boat itself was in a good shape, the cabin is perfect for two people and smoking in the boat was allowed too. Close to the boat is a concrete football field so you can bring a ball if you want. Unfortunately we didn’t managed to swim but we saw a few people swim and the water looked really good and clear.

All in all I can just recommend the boat and if you visit Amsterdam I can recommend to rent a bike. It’s the best way to get anywhere in the city and driving to the city will give you a beautiful view over the canal.
